Feedoor Enables Realtime Feed to Any Website or Blog

We are happy to announce that Feedoor is now fully supporting real-time by implementing both real-time protocols, RssCloud and Pubsubhubbub.

Thanks to Superfeedr the realtime feed parsing service which made hard things easy, we could implement “real time” in “no time” :)

Now, and as a member of Feedoor, you can enable real-time for any feed in your account, even if that feed does not have a real-time protocol.

How Real-time “really” works?

Real-Time is “push” not “poll”, meaning, in order to make your feed “Real-Time” it has to push new posts. Instead of polling your feed every “x” minutes to check for new posts/data, Real-time aware clients and applications will subscribe to your feed and wait contents to be pushed to them when ever your feed has a new post.

How Feedoor’s Real-time Works?

If you’re managing a feed with Feedoor and that feed is already implementing RssCloud or PubSubHubBub protocol then Feedoor waits for a notification to be pushed from your original feed when it has a new content, once it’s notified, feedoor goes on and notifies back those who subscribed to your feed and pings another 17 well known feed services.

But what if your feed doesn’t implement RssCloud or Pubsubhubbub?

In this case your feed will not be able to notify Feedoor of new contents, so we need to poll your feed frequently and check for new posts, when Feedoor detects a new post it will ping feed services and real-time clients/applications. Your feed still can be converted to “near” real-time even if doesn’t implement a real-time protocols.

When the web started to go main stream back in the 1990s, there was a lot of buzz about real-time, but that vision was not accomplished until recently. Today Feedoor joins the real-time club and enables that vision to any website and blog.

Stay tuned for more great features to empower your feed.
